Description

The DL MacDonald facility is a maintenance and storage garage for the trains serving the capital and metro LRT lines in Edmonton. The project consisted of upgrades to the existing mechanical and electrical equipment that had reached the end of their lifecycle. We were also responsible for the coordination of the installation of new high voltage equipment to upgrade the existing traction power substation and associated new cooling systems to better support the new demands of the upgraded equipment.  The purpose of this upgrade was to increase the capacity  to better serve the facility when under increased loads due to large amounts of trains in the facility.

This project was completed while keeping the facility safe and in full operation throughout the duration of the project. We completed this project within the schedule require and we came in substantially under the anticipated construction budget.
